Worried About Health Care Costs?

Rally in Support of Health Insurance For All Connecticut Residents!!!

The "Act Concerning Access to Health Care For Working Families" would:

Insure all health insurance for all medically necessary services for all CT residents without copayments

Cover all medications and nursing home care, except room and board

Allow free choice of any licensed Connecticut health care provider

Return decisions about treatment to you and your health care provider

Insure patient confidentiality

Emphasize preventive health and cover all preventive health care visits

Cost less than comparable private insurance, by law!

Startup costs funded by the tobacco settlement for Connecticut

Be continually funded from an employer payroll tax, state income taxes, and taxes on activities detrimental to health (tobacco, alcohol, air and water pollution)

Decrease administration costs and hassles by two thirds

Provide consumers and health care providers a voice in determining health care

We need this act because:

The number of uninsured in the state of Connecticut has doubled to 12% of the population, 77% of whom are working individuals and their families.

25% of the population insured through their employer are forced to change their health care providers each year because of changes in their insurance coverage

35% of the population who earn between $15,000 and $50,000 per year stay in unwanted jobs to avoid losing their health insurance benefits

Patient confidentiality and confidence has been eroded by our current health care system

State of CT study shows total healthcare expenses would decrease with this approach

60% of CT residents polled by the Hartford Courant support this approach
